Differences between two seperate wage structures -Hourly and Salary

•Hourly covers 14 different job classifications; Salary covers one.

•Hourly pay is based on negotiated amount and senority; Salary is based on negotiated amount, longevity and education attained. Also called step and lane salary schedule.

•Hourly has two pay scales, for those hired before and after a certain date. Salary has no such distinction. A two-tiered pay schedule is used to control costs.Those hired after 7/1/98 are paid about 15 percent less than those hired before the date.
